elle 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2005 When you plan to go for a vacation no matter where is it, be it in the States, UK, Asian countries (language prob??), Europe countries (even more language barriers??) or whichever planet it is, do you prefer to travel independently (individual or with someone you know - friends and family members) or would you rather follow a tour group? And why?
shadowprincess 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2005 prefer to travel independently.. coz although u might find it harder to find the places, it is more adventurous and u can time urself.. and not follow the hectic schedule of a tour
elle 0 Report post Posted July 31, 2005 yeah same here, I prefer to travel independently as if you follow on group tours, it's very hectic .. you cant even rest if you are really tired. There goes another day and another daym which will leave you to exhaustion in the end of the day. You can do anything you like, but if you dont like to visit to some places, you can do so unlike travel groups you need to follow everything and everyone else. Not nice. weN 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2005 I prefer to travel independently and so far most of my trips have been independent trips. Like Khai, I like the flexibility whereby there isn't a time limit that is imposed on how long I can spend my time there. On top of that, I feel that at times group tours are quite commercialised in the sense that the tour guides get commission when they bring you to a certain place to purchase stuff and I think those are a waste of time coz I'm not even interested in the stuff in the first place! I find independent trips to be more pleasureable as everything can be done leisurely.

But I'd still do the tour on my own...

sunny 0 Report post Posted June 22, 2006 Independant travel is always better....you can plan your tour according to your own pace.Never like group tours....everything is so rush.Sometimes after the tour when looking at the pictures that you have took, you can't even recall what place you took the picture at.Purpose of a vacation is to relax and enjoy. cheekyboy 0 Report post Posted July 15, 2006 travelling alone can be fun too... especially if u backpack and enjoy meeting new people and making new friends... sometimes when you travel in a group, the group tend to stick to themselves and do their own things and miss out on new experiences or opportunities to make new friends.no doubt, travelling alone have a few setbacks... mostly the inconvenience of having to lug your luggage with you everywhere u go (or drop it in a public locker, which you can't just find anywhere)... the most inconvenient is when u need to go to toilet when you're in transit (bus stations/train stations/airports) the other one is of course having to constantly rely (and trust) strangers to take photos for you... michellechen 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2006 Everytime I go for tours, I feel like I'm living in a boot camp. It's stressful and they make us wake up soooooo early. Yea, I totally agree with this..! And the worst part is, it's like we paid to be tortured... To me, travelling is supposed to be a relaxing vacation to enjoy the experience, not rushing from one place to another just so we can see many many tourist attraction places to take pix as an evidence that we've been there. Yea, exactly... I just hate going to those places coz most prices are being marked up WAY higher in order to give them the commisions. But it's not like I'll be interested in those stuffs even if they are cheap... It's such a waste of time hanging out there with nothing to do to wait for others to purchase those stuffs.
