Though yea the smokers himself dont die @ young age due to throat/lungs,respiratory -linked cancers or any other cancers ,they put others @ very high risk of getting cancers.Its the CHEMICAL used in cigar that kills.
Darn my grandfather.He smoke a lot.He used to chain smoke,can finish 4-5 boxes of cigar.And my poor grandmother dies because of lung cancer,though shes a non-smoker.And my granmother is only 40 when shes having terminal lung cancer and the cancer killed her.Sadly.
As for my grandfather,when hes 50,he suffered complications like heart attack,high blood pressure,kidney failure and have stroke as well.After the first series of stroke hes paralysed from neck down,wheel chair bound for 3 years before he dies due to pneumonia

Second hand smoker gets higher risk than smoker himself when inhaling the smoke.I cant remember which studies I come accross but the findings state that second hand smokers have higher risk of getting cancers compare to smoker themself

True true... the wikipedia link I shared also talked about second hand smoker but they called it as "Passive smoking". Do a search on Wikipedia on that title and there are lots of information backed by research articles...

Perhaps his beautiful daughter might be able to convince him not to smoke?

Tell him mah, smoking == burning money... Might as well consume something healthier and let your body burn it away instead of the cigarette. If he stop now, his risk of getting those diseases is reduced by 50%, still have time, and above all, he smells much nicer even after a workout and have B.O.

During their clubbing session, they each sucked in a gulp of smoke from cigarrette and then french kiss each other, including the exchanges of smokes!

And guess what? They said it feels good!

I personnally have not tried that though. and not motivated to try either. Just wanna keep the kissing part clean without any nasty aftertaste.

Anyway, apart from wanting to know more about you, the reason why I created this topic was because I happened to see some couples doing PDAs, and the worst part, there was a couple doing a PDA with smoking, where the boy suck, then kiss the girl, n the girl blow the smoke out.

exactly. i know, its funny. i hate smokers but yet my bf is a smoker. and in the past, i believe i have said that its impossible for me to accept a smoker as bf but look what happen now but then, he didn't dare smoke/touch cigarette in front of me. IF i do find any cigarette, i'll take away and throw into the dustbin. so far, i've only found a lighter which i have "confiscated" . and haven't seen a cigarette in his bag or whatsoever. but i believe he still smokes when he is working. bad habits are hard to stop. but since he doesn't even dare to touch 1 cigarette in front of me, just close 1 eye

Yes, Forager, smoking do shorten life span, although the activity of smoking itself do not shorten lifespan, it's the product in the cigarettes that shortens the life.
If you check in Wikipedia, with the title Smoking (see link here), under "Social Effect -> Public Health", it says that 500, 000 deaths per year in US alone is attributed to smoking related, while in China, 1/3 of the male population are expected to have premature death due to smoking. These statistics are gathered and calculated for the risk of smoking alone, considering all other factors as equal.

There are so many more articles out there I cannot cite to share about the negative effects of smoking, not to mention yet the effects on second hand smokers.

premature death.. something we cannot gauge, chew.. i m a staunch believer that when it is time to move on, we will move on.. our lifespan in this world is already fixed.. so, when your time is up, no matter how healthy you are, jalan jugak lah... i have seen healthy men, athelits sum more collapsing and instantly pass on... no explaination.. cause of death - unexplain.. and a few of such cases..

therefore, i hold on to the principle that death comes to u when ur time is up. i too had my share of close encounter.. which prompted me to wonder why i m still walking amongst u guys today.. the accident i met, i felt should have been fatal.. but i got away with just a few skin punture.. no broken bones or internal injury.. i was hit my a lorry whist i was ridin my bike.. flung across a 2 lane road to the opposite lane, landed underneath a car and was staring at the car engine when good samaritans pulled me out from underneath that car.. haha.. i dare say the experience is priceless.. everything was in slow-motion when the accident happens.. like what u see in them movies.. and your whole life experience run thru ur head in that slow-mo period at a fastforwad phase..

so, now if u tell me smoking shortens one's life, my reply is 'if it is ur time, u cannot run away from death. be it u r a smoker or not!'.. so, just lead your life to the fullest and enjoy every moment instead of worrying about when u r going to die or what u do might cause ur life to be shorten..

I think God has given us a lot of If-Else conditions for us to choose in life that we end our life in some way some day in the future.
True, no one knows when one will die, as if I would "fall into 'that' hole" right after I post, or may not, I don't know

But I think had God had the chance to speak to us once, we might get his reply like "OK, if you choose to smoke, you die with lung cancer, if not, you die this way that way...."

So, assuming that I still don't know how I am going to end my way of life, but knowing that this has a percentage of leading to that, I choose not to go the negative way. For other way that will cause my death, let it come naturally, pray that it don't kill me slowly.

Wow, my meimei sure noes how to protect herself eh somemore can "confiscate" lighter somemore. Last time I got one housemate (whom I close with) who's bf also smoke and she dun like it, but she very kecut in front of him

But lighters leh, i think for me is ok (non-smoker) bcos even though I'm not a smoker, I buy alot of cigarette lighters-alternative to matches. When birthday cake come, easy to light.

i'm not saying its ok. but what can i say? he's not smoking in front of me. he always say he doesn't smoke anymore and asks me back whether i saw him smoking. and despite there's some smell on his body, i know he'll say that the smoke is from his customer and workers. so, what's the use of nagging him? i don't wanna be wasting my breath on this. and it is possible that he has stopped but then, smoking habits are hard to stop especially when the ppl around u are smoking as well.

In my opinion its not so much the wasting money but the health issue. Bcos for me I am happy to see strangers smoke in public-contribute to the economy. I even like to go hang out with my friends who smoke so as to get them to buy my cigarettes (so I can earn some money) but I dare not try smoke though, duwan to burn myself. If there was a chain smoker who will only want to buy cigarettes from me, I would be happy (unless that person is someone I love, including loveholic)
