Aurora Greenleaf 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2008 Well, I have a disorder. It's called Trichotillomania. In layman terms it means, it's a hair pulling disorder. You can't stop it just like that. You need a lot of help. Professional help and it's not easy to find here in Malaysia. With this disorder comes a lot of problems. The physical one is that after pulling, you're left with patches of bald spot on your scalp and you can't go out in public looking like that. So, I was wondering if anyone would know where I could get good wigs. Probably 100% human hair. I'm living in Penang, so if it's anywhere near, it'll be great. Thanks.Oh, and if there are anyone out there who has this problem, I wouldn't mind getting to know you. Thanks
Cas 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2008 Hi Aurora, sorry to hear about your condition, have you seen any doctors for help? Anyway you can try getting wigs at Scarlet, they have lots of different types of wigs that look fairly real.

Aurora Greenleaf 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2008 Thanks for the reply, Cas. Yes, I went to see a doctor, but then again even they don't know how to treat this the right way. Said so themselves. How sad. Told me to go overseas for a better treatment. Thanks again. I'll go look for the at Scarlet.

katrin1234 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2016 first of all you need to get rid of the cause of the problem and this is anxiety, of course. Try to start doing Yoga or meditation... If not use antidepressants: Trichotillomania treatment includes the following drugs: Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors – they increase the concentration of endorphin and serotonin in the brain, which improve mood, eliminate anxiety and discomfort. Fluoxetine is used, the improvement occurs after a week of taking. Tricyclic antidepressants have an effect similar to the previous group of drugs but unlike them, they affect other endorphins: norepinephrine, dopamine. http://undepress.net/trichotillomania-why-do-people-pull-their-hair/
