Hey girls,

Anyone join Myoga at the gardens? I just join recently, kind of like the environment there. Wanted to ask what class is good, and which are the good instructors?

If any of you girls here are myoga member maybe we can go together :P

erm my package is rm177 per month with unlimited access, 1 year membership (but I have to to use CIMB card as my monthly payment method to get this package)- you have to ask them if they have any promotion/ tied with certain credit card company to get cheaper price...this is what i did to get cheaper price.

Hi Kaka,

Sorry for the late reply, ya my office is so near to Myoga so everyday after work i just walk there to attend my classes. My main reason i join there is because is near to my office very convenient for me. Kaka have you try Zumba fitness? I wonder how is the class like.

WARNING!! Be careful before you sign a contract (this applies to any health club). Make sure that you really like going there and enjoy doing the exercises. MYOGA specifically has a trial program for RM300 a month or RM100 a week or RM50 a day with no further obligations. The so-called club "counselors" will NOT tell you this. Even when you ask them specifically if there is a trial or shorter term program the will blatantly lie in your face and tell you NO. They operate on a commission basis and will not make any commission unless you sign a contract. Do you know why they don't post their fees on their website? Well, they are professionals at getting people to sign (the tactic they used on me was "wow, you looked so STRESSED. you should definitely join this club so that you can RELAAXXX!" -- guess what? the "counselor" at California Fitness told me the exact same thing. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a set of "pick-up" lines they memorize during their training). They will tell you that they're giving you a special rate if you sign-up there and then, and continue to pressure you until you do. They will say that if you walk out now, you'll be paying much more if you try to join the club the next time. This has the added effect of making you feel that if you join, you become a part of an elite organization. Yoga isn't for everyone, and I suggest you try out the monthly or weekly programs before deciding if you want to join. And once you do be very firm with the counselors and if you feel you're not 100% sure, WALK OUT. don't even try to argue with them cause you're wasting your time. Once you're locked in to the contract, their legal team will make darn sure that you pay them every penny or they will bring you down.

So is this club really worth joining? Well, that depends on your personal view. Sure, it looks real nice on the surface, but from personal experience, I can definitely say that most of the "teachers" here are not well trained, and they're quite hard to understand at times. So far I've only met ONE teacher who just passes the mediocre mark in my view. And as the membership increases, the classes are getting more and more packed. If I'd had the chance to try it out for a month, I would not have signed the contract.

Zumba Fitness is very fun. As a California Fitness member (Myoga and California Fitness owned by the same company), it has helped me slim down and really release stress. But you have to like dance to enjoy it. Jason O's class is quite basic, I've been to his class once only when he was replaceing one instructor bcos he only teaches in Sunway whereas I go to Midvalley one most often.

If you're beginner I recommend you try Deno, who specialises in Latin Dance. He's the most friendly and was my first Zumba instructor in Midvalley. As i said, among the team he specialises in latin dance so most of his routine will be tailored to Latin Dance like Salsa. Another one on the team will be Elva, also good with beginners, but she's mosre specialised in Belly dancing.

basically Zumba is Latin Aerobics so after joining and liking it, expect to find yourself loving Latin/Spanish Music Edited by timothyngim

Yeah, Jason's more amateurish. Plus he told me before he's a student and tats y only teach at Sunway. (He invited me to go over to Sunway, but then its more convenient for me to Midvalley and also bcos of the pool, but in future will transfer work to Sunway) Deno is full time (its from Jason O that I learn the difference between full-time and part-time) and more EXPERT so be prepared to really sweat...Oh, not too mention, he's handsome with a lot of metal on his body as well. (tat's a joke whenever we see the rules of the pool at Midvalley's CF)

ahem.. Elva is not really specialised in Belly Dance and neither does Deno in Zumba. They jez happened to teach the classes. Thats all. Before being instructors, they are also members of the gym. They are both dancers. Thats why they are so good in dancing. They did not undergo any training overseas and they are only trained by California. Thus, their wages are much cheaper compared to those really qualified instructors. Jason is also trained by California. He is doing this as part time.

well to mi it doesnt matter if they are qualified or not, as long as the classes is fun. but i do notice that elva tends to focus on belly dancing styles in her class, and more towards latin for deno. but whether they specialise in that dance im not too sure. but it doesnt really bother mi anyway.

sigh~ my contract with myoga has ended.. im thinking whether to continue with them or not.. not that the classes arent fun, but i'll be working at a faraway place like 45mins to 1 hrs drive away from mv...

Yes yes. Its not the specialised. ZUmba is more of a "general" dance and now I think Myke, a BodyPump instructor also going to teach it at Lot 10, maybe bcos of interest (seen him in Deno's class before). Deno specialises in Latin Dancing not Zumba, tats why he teaches the Latin Dance classes. Like Sunny teaches more hip hop. While Ezen and Elva is specialise in Belly Dance. Elva told me before, when she wanna get someone to replace her Belly Dance class, its Ezen. If wanna replace her Street classes, its Sunny. But Ezen is freelance-he also teach at Fitness First even though its a shitty gym. Elva is also in the entertainment arts actualy, during Singapore National Day she told me she had to go to Singapore and I heard senior member say, "oh, Singapore again, ah" but that could be bcos she belongs to Dallas Entertainment, SIngapore??

Yeah, his dressing. Alot metal. But the other instructors also look good. Deno looks abit ah kua sumtimes shutup.gif while Jason looks cute and young (the other instructors xcept Elva and Ezen kinda look old compared to him)

Like said earlier, Elva specialise Belly Dance, Deno, Latin and if you get Sunny, more hip hop style. Ezen is well.... more mixed in Zumba. Maybe its their interest as well. Don't ever mess with Deno's Latin Dance... its real powerful..... Edited by timothyngim

no doubt Ezen is very gd in shaking his butt but belly dancing? He is out la. Every1 complained bot him. And yes, Deno is very gd in latin. On da ah gua part, i totally agree wif u. Well, wat do u expect from a ** ?? (cant disclose more here. Otherwise, he is gonna kill me tongue.gif). Fyi, Elva is a singer cum dancer. She has been in da entertainment industry since young but not famous. She is also teaching hip hop (sumtime), zumba, etc ~ not really specialise in belly dance. It just happened dat the gym is having diff finding cheap labour 4 belly dancing nia (Deno & Ezen kena complaint) as qualified instructors charge much higher.
