berlyn 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2008 My sis, first time pregger thought that it is better to have her child delivered at the general hospital..Her first choice was a private hospital but after her routine check with both private and gov. medical centre, she could really compare the checks conducted by both the specialists. It seems the gov. medical centre offered more thorough check (blood pressure, urine and blood tests, etc) but the other only a simple check on her BP, scan and that's all. So mummies out there, what's your experience and opinion about this?

berlyn 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 Hmm that's good if the private hospital could offer such good services. My sis saw how the doc in the private hospital sent her friend to general hospital because the doctor was not free at that point of time. She diagnosed and said that my sis's friend needs to go through surgery in order to save both baby and mother, but once my sis's friend reached the gov hospital, the docs just helped her with natural birth....This is in Johor anyway So nearest gleneagles is in singapore le which is an impossible choice
CrªzySe×yCool 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 Pivate it depends on which hospital and which doctor u see... some do through checks and some dont. So pick ur doc wisely as theyre the ones that will journey with you throughout ur pregnancy.GN... theyre well equipped with all necessary equipments. But id rather go to a private hospital. yukl 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2008 If affordable i will advise to go to private hospital because you can choose the doctor you like. If government hospital, it is depends on your luck. Sometimes you will get good doctor but sometimes you dont. Maybe the doctor is not experience. I have heard alot of relatives and friends who go to government hospital. Some have bad experience so i dare not go to government hospital. My gynae was Dr. Wong Chin Yuan from Sunway Medical Center. He is quite good and experience. There is another doctor in sunway who is very popular. He is Dr. Jason but i heard from ppl that the queue is very long in order to see him. Need to wait 1-2 hours to see him. dosh7 0 Report post Posted April 7, 2008 i m going to Pantai Bangsar out of convenience. The only chinese lady doc in the whole hospital is Ms. Kim Wong. I am running too close to delivery date, i have no choice but to take it. Any reviews on her? I have tried to make appointment but not able to. The nurse told me tht she does not do appointment it is a first come first serve basis!!! and she works on certain days of the week but working hours only from 3:30 to 5:00 only. Cecilia 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 it's not abt whether it is private or general hospitals. Coz at the end of the day, it's depending on whether you have faith and trust on your doctor.
dosh7 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 tht's true but i think in GH service could be quite bad ya?
Cecilia 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2008 I have neva been to GH but my mom gave birth to me brother n sister there. She said that it was quite bad. There isnt enough ward for mommies to-be to wait inside during labour pain.. So, they were lying on the ward beds along the corridor.. But it was many yrs i got, so i'm not sure whether there are any improvements on this.. Plus, the nurses were rude too..
PinkOrange 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2008 I delivered both my girls in UMMC (University Malaya Medical Center). The service were superb and nurses were very helpful, most of all the fees was affortable. Definately cheaper than Private Hospitals and much more expensive than Fully Government Hospitals. (Heard that HKL charges only RM 15 for delivery plus 1 night stay). No bad experience for both my deliveries there. You will only be delivered by housemen ad midwives unless there's some complication with your delivery, then only a doctor will be called to assist your delivery. (Which happens to both my delivery).I do my routine check-ups in both private and UMMC, as you can never be too sure with only 1 doctor. Moreover, the check-up's in UMMC are only a brief one, routine urine test, BP test and of course the listening to your baby's heart beat. All less than 5 minutes but you gotta wait for more than 3 hours for your turn. (However, bear in mind that they have plenty of mummies to see each day and we are only paying RM 5 per visit compared to hundreds for private gynae)Well, this is only my 2 cents. Well I delivered my son in Putrajaya hospital and my experince was almost the same with you.. The service is not bad but only nurses would be there during delivery. Doctor would only be called when the nurses can't cope. And my whole delivery was in charged by the nurses. They are quite fierce but frankly they are kind. What I think is that it really depends on our luck in giving birth to our baby. Some hospitals are very well-known but if we get the wrong doctor, we'd still suffer.. so good luck to all mothers here
Stellathomas 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2008 The fundamental argument that building the private hospitals will free up 1000 private beds in public hospitals is flawed. Most of the private patients in public hospitals are there for acute care that is not offered by private hospitals in the first place. There's no way that 1000 private beds can be just transferred to a new building unless all the services offered by the public hospital are set up there as well. And this is not going to happen.---------------------StellathomasInternet Marketing
