klaudina 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2006 the last time i left for uk, my baggage excluding hand luggage was 35kg. i was lucky i didnt need to pay for 10kg extra because my uncle knew some ppl working there. i was only asked to pay for the 5kg and it was freaking expensive - approx. RM 600 if not mistaken. i didnt pay anyway coz i remove some items from the bag and carried it with my hand luggage. it was so heavy but had to tahan until i masuk the plane. oh i was only allowed 20kg actually. zam 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2006 i like being upgraded! muahahahha upgraded.... hmmmmm.... which part? I don't like too many luggage when i travel... ideally would be just 1 bag in cargo n 1 in hand... don't like waiting at the baggage claim area.. once i carried too many that i forgot how many luggage i put in the cargo.. ferrarihotbabe 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2006 I called the travel agency , its 30kg. My friend is bringing books weighting about 19 kg...gosh i don't know how much he is gonna pay man Last month, I came back from Sydney with MAS and had extra kgs which I had to pay at AUD20 per kg. Economy class has only 20kgs. But if you're a student, you get extra 10kgs (just tell them that you're a student and provide them your student card). About hand luggages, the staff didn't get me to check in. That time, I had my backpack filled up and I had another hand luggage, which total weight of my hand luggages weight more than 7kgs. I told the staff that the hand luggages had my laptop and important documents. She just let me through. But at the end, I still had to pay for the extra kgs I had for the check-in luggages. Shazzac 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2006 Does anyone know how many kg can you carry on an international flight if you're a student ? the websites says 20 kg for economy class ... didin't mention anything about extra kgs for student tho Hi Krysli,I've got an idea. Make some friends when you check-in, ask them if they would like to share their luggage allowance with you. That way you don't need to worry about anything, just tell the check in that you'd like to share with them. When i travelled to Aus, this girl brought a lot of stuff over, me and my friend decided to share our luggage allowance coz we didn't bring much stuff (she asked of course). That way she saved a lot on that fee.
elle 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2006 WHoa so much ... last year when I came back ... my hand luggage was way overweight ... supposedly 5 kgs but that guy weighed it until 11.5kgs but then he let me through haha2nd encounter was the scanning section where he stopped my friend coz she was bring back her speakers and other rubbish so they saw like .. too may luggages ... ok went throughJust thought that we were lucky, but no ... the last one was at the gate where the woma stopped us saying that 3 person with so many lugggages is way too many, so she asked us to pay 1000 CH ... wah seh ... siao of coz we didnt pay, even we have the cash we wont pay but of coz we dont haha.Nightmare~
cheekyboy 0 Report post Posted February 17, 2006 standard baggage allowance for economy class is 20KGstudents can request for 30KG, subject to final approval on the spot(if the plane is fully booked and 90% students, they are not very likely to give you so much allowance - especially during peak peak times when everyone is rushing to go back for semester start... or semester break)just for general knowledge and information... there are many classes of baggage for when you're overweight if you can't afford to pay for the excess weight... or when you have so much to bring you know you're waaaay over the limit...AIRLINE EXCESS BAGGAGE1.5% of the Full Economy Class Adult fare per kilogram. Taken on board aircraft as EXCESS Baggage. UNACCOMPANIED BAGGAGE75% of the IATA cargo rate. Must be sent as cargo prior to departure.Must have valid ticket. Subject to space available. For those of you travelling back from Australia, there's this company called Jetta Express that specialises in Excess Baggage, but at a very attractive rate...JETTA BAGGAGECheaper than excess or unaccompanied baggage. May be sent before or after departure. No ticket required. Guaranteed uplift.Pickup from the door for example... rates FROM Australia TO Kuala LumpurAirline Excess Baggage: AUD 25.00/kgUnaccompanied Baggage: AUD 4.30/kgJetta Excess Baggage: AUD 2.30 - AUD 3.50/kgMore info: http://www.jetta.com.au------Currently i think there's a company operating EXCESS BAGGAGE service at KLIA as well... you can check out their price and service, it's usually cheaper than if you pay for overweight charge
