n1sh@ 0 Report post Posted November 13, 2008 Hi..I might be able to help. Well accutane (iso-tretinoin) is an form of Vit A and it should only be prescribed by a dermatologist or (other specialist if its not corncerning acne). So if you are not getting it from them thn i would suggest you to stop taking it. I need to ask you few ques bwfore we get any further; did u sign ne papers when taking this medication because it is required. than tht way we knw ur taking frm a specialist.Secondly, are you pregnant? or are you planning to get pregnant within a yr or so coz if yes thn i would suggest you to tell the doct about it and he will stop this drug for you until ur done with ur pregnancy and lactation. Dont worry it wouldnt affect ur uterus or anything. Only this drug passes thru the placenta and can effect the baby so thats y shdnt take this medication during that time.Besides all that, well the most common prob faced by ppl taking this drug is dryness- skin, eyes, nose. the only thing to stop all this would be use a moisterizer (try getting the non-oil based ones, lotions are usually more water based thn cream), and if ur eyes is itchy n irritated due to dryness use eyemore so something. dont rub! coz there is risk of conjunctivitis. since your skin is going to be dry, there is high chances of ur skin flaking and because of that ur skin will be very sensitive to the sun so you MUST wear sunscreen lotion before you go out. sunscreen n moisterizer is 2 diff things so wear both. Lastly the first 2 weeks to 6 weeks usually ur face might get worse with pimples as the old pimples that are left behind ages ago will comeout. dont worry, just let it go naturally and just clean ur face properly. usually by the end of 6 months ur face will be just fine without marks so dont worry I hope these information is sufficient enof for u. i really didnt knw what u wanted to knw so i just wrote the basics. if u need nemore help dont hesitate to ask. PM me if u want more ans and ill get bck to you asap:-) GOOD LUCK!!

junnie 0 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 i took this drug 2 years ago. it is effective but i can't bear with the side effect. i took it for 5 months n it relapse after i stop. it does clear out acne. it shud be taken low dose for long term. According to Dr Ting (jalan imbi), shud take 10mg for 18 months or 20mg for 9 months. i only take it for 5 month cuz it was too expensive n i can't afford it. it shud be safe if u r taking the correct dose. side effect that i experienced wre dry lips, dry scalp, n lil bit depression, feel like wanna die. while, for other ppl that i know, some nose bleeding due to mucosa membrane was too dry. for dry lips, u can buy vaseline at watson/ guardian, it's effective n about RM10.i wonder why u need antibiotic while on accutane? n may i know whether the neostrata set, antibiotic and accutane are prescribed by the same dermatologist??? u have to make sure u dun go to facial or laser while on accutane. cuz it will lead to permanent scarring. for me, i went to salon for extraction while on accutane, n my cheek area was left with ugly ice pick scar. chloe7981 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2010 Dear all, I have been on Accutane (Acnotin-Isotretinoin) treatment for the past 6 months. I am glad that my condition is recovering During the past 6 months, as advised by my dermatologist, I stopped my normal cleansing/beauty routine and followed the given guidelines. Thus, I only wash me face with water in the morning and Cetaphil at night. I did not use any moisturizer, sunscreen, mask and toner throughout my last 6 months of treatment. Now, as I am approaching the last month of my treatment, I am worried as I do not know what should I do after stop taking the medication. Should I restart back the normal cleansing/beauty routine? If I should start back the normal cleansing/beauty routine, how should the routine be? What should and shouldn't I be using and doing? I would really appreciate any advice from you all. For those who had previously taken this treatment and had completed it, please let me know what to do after this. I am worried that if I did the wrong thing, the acne might come back all over again Thank you so much!!

Therefore it is advisable not to get pregnant while taking accutance or at leaast 6 months after your last treatment. Some ppl may have tendecy to get back acne after they stop. Btw, it is good if you select a best skin care that suitable for your skin to use. your skin needs some nutrient too and do go for facial extraction at least once a month to clear the clogs
