ING Medical Card not accepted at certain Hospitals for now!

Recommended Posts

hi

Just imagine having a medical card from ING and being rejected acceptance at one of the major 5 star hospital!

This was what happened to my friend recently, thinking that with the cashless medical card he has confidently he could be hospitalised without paying a single cent, but no, he had to settle the full ammount of RM7982/ and to claim later!

There was this challenge between ING and MCOs/ a number of Hospitals recently as stated in the newspaper (only temp hiccup i believe as ING cannot afford to prolong this and tarnish their 'F1' reputation)- and their clients suffer the anguish and dissapointment at the very moment when they are in pain!

I am glad my friend is now recuperating at home, and vowing never to trust an orange lion or lioness anymore. He says its better to trust a company that has a mountain as the logo, or a human face!.

all these issues are so controversial lah.. and potentially very bad for us consumers too!

cos you really wont know what your card CANT do until something not-so-good happens to you.. and that's exactly when you need it the most!

i've been shopping for a medicard too before this, but ALL insurance agents will tell you how GOOD their card is, and how BAD other cards are.. make me so confused .. temporarily aborting the card-hunt

Yes, I get shot when I see the notice board at one of the 5* hospital last Saturday. When I ask further from the customer service officer, he just said that is management decision.

Thank God..I’m not insured by animal, I deal with “human”…. My auntie has a very bad experience with one of the “animal” insurance company too. She has diagnosed with breast cancer – third stage, she has owned a medical card from X company with a life time limit of RM200,000 , but she has told by the hospital that her animal medical card can only use up to 20,000 per lifetime for cancer treatment (this the sub-limit for cancer treatmenty althought ur lifetime limit is 200K)

Oh…all this while she has been paying for the premium with a thingking that she do not need to withdraw her saving in Bank in the event if she diagnose with critical illness. When we check further on the animal policy, it did mentioned under one of the cause, only most of us never care to know what we buy and what we own now. ANy agent also never tell us on this "Sub-limit" thing.

What is the point this X insurance company promoting a high lifetime limit but in actual fact we can’t utilise it when we really need it (not evern the yearly limit). Besides cancer/ kidney dialysis, do we really will use up to medical bills of 200K if it is only for minor surgery or accidents?!! Is that make sense!!

So, I really very careful when I decide on which medical plan to buy 5 years ago… Lucky we still have insurance company that with “human brain”. My “human” sign medical card is the best cos they are the 1st company to launch medical card in M’sia.

Of couse my agent (adviser) did tell the pro and con abt their human plan too (quite honest)

yup, i just went there last saturday for my rashes problem. I also read one artical that post by others at Malaymail on early apr, she has been rejected when she want to settle her hosp bills using orange card at Pan... Bangsar. As I know not all pantai.. Someone told me Sunway too... anyone know?

I think BNM have to audit all these ins company to ensure they are strong enough to provide medical coverage for their policy holder...

gleneagle hospital & UM hospital

my dad's experience as he's holding ING medical card

the ppl from UM hospital told us that they refused to accept their medical card because they were always late in payment and owed large sum of money to them. you have to pay the bill by yourself 1st then only claim from them.

the recent claim were approved in like 10 days, perhaps they are getting efficient?

So, why the" orange lion" still charge us more expensive than other ins plan?! Their medical plan has increased recently but some company offer level premium I heard. I don't mind to pay for more before this b'cos I thought their medical card is good.

I might need to review my policy again.... Why there is no letter being sent out to their Policy holder? Any of this orange lion policy holder receive the letter? I have not received anything from then and my agent did not even inform me!

By the way any of you heard of their income plan? Damm expensive... my agent asked me to get one and the returns are just not worth it if u know how to calculate.

Kiroro, can you give me ur agent contact no? I want to review my policy. Which company? I'm staying in KL?

Not to worry if you are covered with employee's medical benefit, as this is pre-agreed with your company of employment to cover all hospitalisation and outpatient without paying first (with a certain limit). This only affect their Cashless Med card holders (individuals).

This is only temporary as ING will definitely undo the damage, conform to what is required by law and be part of the preferrred panel of insurer again.

I am a registered financial planner as well so it is unfair to say much but i am only sharing what my friend has experienced. ING is still a very good insurer no doubt.

MY ADVISE TO YOU OUT THERE WHO IS LOOKING FOR AN INSURANCE PLAN IS, TO HAVE THE FOLLOWING CHECKLIST AND ASK YOUR AGENT THESE:

1st ask yourself:

1) why do i need insurance

2) how much am i earning, how do i spend, and how much can i save?

3) What is my lifestyle?

4) What are my immediate and future plans?

5) If you were Disabled yesterday, how much do you need for survival (- loans, debts, food, rent etc)

6) What insurance do i need?

Then Check this

1) What your agent offers

2) Death/ TPD, Critical Illness lump sum payment, Medical Card for Hospitalisation (*what limit/ sublimit), Accident Death and Disablement both major and minor, Hospitalisation/ disability income, Premium Waiver benefits (full or partial), Any Returns

3) Traditional , Universal Life or Investment-Linked Policy

4) Is the plan proposed by your agent COMPREHENSIVE?!! as you can see, you do not want to buy only life and critical illness cover but without accident or waiver benefits. BECAUSE if an accident were to occur , you loose a leg- you will not get paid for the lost as you are not covered with accidental benefit

5) Will the premium increase with age? Standalone Medical Card Pro and Cons?

6) Guaranteed renewability for the medical card? ( if it is term *years, then after the term you will have to re-purchase again at a different premium)

7) How are the returns derived? some companies say after * years you get back x amount of returns from the policy (surrender value,or cash value)

8) Which company is your agent from? Is the Insurance company a well established Insurance company? Standard and Poors rating? Claim records? Only buy from Insurance companies and not from any MLM based company offering medical benefits- they cannot pay!!

9) Is your agent a HOPPER? jumps from one company to the other? part-timer? recognitions are important but not all MDRTs are commited to serve you!!

10) Is he only pushing for savings/ investment but is not explaining or selling you more of protection?!! then BEWARE there are many agents that do not sell you insurance but sell you INCOME PLAN, GENERATION PLAN and many other names out there.. this plans, from what i have seen- are meant for savings but never for Protection!! the premiums are very high too and the returns are not that attractive. go calculate before you commit.

11) Can you afford the premium?

12) Always check back you policy (review) if you already have one- get an agent to summarise the coverage etc for you. Do it at least once every 2-3 years

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PURCHASE MANY POLICIES- JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOUR 1 AND ONLY POLICY IS COMPREHENSIVE (WITH ALL THE BENEFITS STATED ABOVE). YOU SAVE MONEY THIS WAY AND YOU WILL LOVE YOUR AGENT FOR RECOMMENDING YOU A COMPREHENSIVE PLAN.

LASTLY remember, PROTECT YOURSELF FIRST BEFORE EVEN THINKING ABOUT SAVING AND INVESTING!!

What will happen if you have RM50,000 cash but you do not even have proper ins coverage and something were to befall you ie disability?

I am sorry if i have missed out anything but this is what i can think of at the moment, i hope it helps.

yes Yoyo, u may if you look for Prudential. established more than 85 yrs in Malaysia, Many that perished in the Titanic were also insured by Prudential. check out their website. Cool and Classy

You mean 01 plan that covers all so you dont have to keep buying too many policies! (every policy is commison to the agent, the more you buy, the happier they get!). All you need, 01 or 02 policies forever and upgrade accordingly when needed. If you buy too many policies, you will not get value for your money and will not enjoy full premium waiver should something happen.

Some companies' agent sell rubbish policies, term, endowment, medical card standalone, etc. THEY DONT care about their clients, but only worry about their own targets. BEWARE.

Thanks for asking.

Hi How do you know the plan will bemuch more better? R u an unit trust agent ? ha..ha..u see.. now they realised that tradisional plan no longer suite to the current market/lifestyle. In a way, they have believe investment link still better.. More and more ppl realised tradisional plan is incomplete and it is expensive. That's why BNM wants all ins agent hv lecense for investment link policy...

Anyway, we all know who is the first company launch investment-link and this plan has been selling very well at Hong Kong, Japan and Europe countries.

Now many competitor out there just copy the product what has been selling well from the other company. Same like Medical card..

I think alot of ppl have lossed confident and trust with orange lion, so they have to regaint the market share now...

My friend who selling PB mutual tells me that they also package in the ins portion, but she said we must always remember that is only for a short term, meaning if i withdraw my money from unit trust, I won't get insure anymore..... So be aware..
