The largest active volcano in the world is the entire Yellowstone National Park in the US. Its eruption cycle is approximately once every 600 000 years. The last time it erupted was just a little over 600 000 years ago!

According to the words of one researcher "Tokyo is a city waiting to die." It lies in between 3 tectonic plates ( instead of the usual 2 for other earthquake prone areas ) and the last quake was in 1920, where more than 200 000 people were killed. Its population was just 3 million then. Today, the Tokyo population is more than 30 million. The longer it is in between quakes, the worse the quake is going to get. The tension beneath has been building up for more than 80 years now...!
