xyu 0 Report post Posted October 28, 2007 erm it depends what sorta deco u wantlike the knitting cupcakes above, she used marzipansome used sugar fondant to sculpt mine above uses buttercream frostingbut i personally like peanutbutter frostingi think the basic one that some ppl use is just icing sugar+water to get a thick condensed liquid form and spoon it over them. heiditan 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2007 sukkimi~ thanks! I see u really have a passion for baking too! I only get to bake when I'm on holidays... The decoration was done using buttercream. The American style buttercream. Then I just piped out the deco. But the thing with buttercream is that it melts easily in our hot weather. had to keep these chilled in the refrigerator. And it's more for decoration than anything. Cos if you eat all that buttercream with the cupcake it's a tad too sweet.
sukkimi 0 Report post Posted November 12, 2007 heiditan : Ya i love to bake and always try baking different recipes. I'm a homemaker so can bake whenever i'm free. But cannot bake everyday later no body eat.Ya, our weather here humid and hot, buttercream will melt. You can try using icing sugar or egg white powder (Royal Icing), Fondant ,Marzipan all these can stand in hot weather and doesnt melt as easy as buttercream Right now, i wanna try making macaroon. I think i must be prepared for many fails bake coz the technique of making macaroon is patience. Let me stock up on almond meal and try baking (soon) hope to post result here
