  1. ^ nope, I'm not from UTAR, Theng... I go to Taylors... I mean, I used to.
  2. hehe...yes, the prom was quite fun. But there was too little dancing! The ballroom was so small and cramped and dancing wasn't exactly in the programme... but it was fun watching everyone getting dressed up and taking lots of photos!
  3. hehe...sorry kassie, came back from prom late and kinda tired too.. Anyway, thanks so much kassie! You did a great job! yea, I looked different...a lot of people couldn't recognize me at the prom. I don't have any good pictures of the makeup process because there aren't really any and the ones I have are pretty bad quality.. I have this one of kassie puting glitter in my hair, but it's so blur... Thanks again kassie!
  4. oops...stupid me. I have to try to actually search for it in Guardian before posting a topic about it..lol. But thanks dear for replying anyway...
  5. thanks for the info uglyduckling... yea, still considering Peek-a-Boo, Snips and Kimarie... Pretty hard to decide wor..
  6. Hey quiest... Well, I know nuts about makeup actually...but I found some links which I hope you will find useful... For ideas on different makeup looks such as Hollywood Glamour, Divinely Diva and Simply Sweet, check out this really good prom website - Prom Advice. And this website also has some nice prom makeup looks... Some pretty prom looks and eye makeup (including the classic smokey eyes) here. Oh, and if you want an idea of how different makeup shades look on you, try having a virtual makeover... Ivillage has a pretty good one. Just upload your picture and try out different lipstick shades, eyeliner and hairdos, etc. It's fun! Tip: better take a new photo especially for this virtual makeover tool. Make sure your hair is all tied back and away from your face, and face the camera straight on.. It would be good if you can use an image-editing program to change the background of your pic to plain white. Something like this... Just so you can have some idea of what you can do with the virtual makeover tool, here is a sample, lol... I' know I'm no leng lui lah, but virtual makeovers are fun anyway... You can give it a try... Plus, some babes on this forum are excellent with makeup...I'm sure they will be able to help you too.. But it would be helpful if you could post a larger picture of yourself and your dress too... Well, hope I helped!
  7. Ur welcome! Glad I was of some help... But unfortunately, the other place I know that offers eyebrow threading is The Makeup Bar, which is also in Bangsar... Haiz, why all in Bangsar oh? I'm also looking for eyebrow threading service near my place...which is why I opened this thread lol... Well, since eyebrow threading originated from India, I'm sure most Indian salons will have it, if you know any around your area... But yea...does anyone know any eyebrow threading in shopping centres? I wanna know too...
  8. Hello MoonAngel...sorry if this reply is kinda late... Okay, since I'm hopeless at explaining things, so here is an excerpt from an article on eyebrow threading from Xfresh.com... Threading, as I found out, is a practice which originated from the Middle East and India. Basically, it produces the same effects as waxing, ie. the hair is removed directly from its roots. The beautician holds one end of a pure cotton thread in her teeth (in my case) and the other end with a hand. She uses her free hand to form a loop in the middle of the thread to trap the rows of unwanted hair, and then pulls it out in quick succession. (Tug-tug-tug, ouch-ouch-ouucchh!) It's the simplest, most amazing technology ever - as project leader Mei Lynn says. Just one piece of thread (no needles), and some nifty moves, and voila! You have perfect eyebrows. So it hurts, then? You bet! But I can guarantee you that it hurts a lot less than waxing or tweezing. The thing about threading is, it's quick because many hairs are removed at once, unlike tweezing which involves one fine hair at a time. Basically, it's a Quick-Death vs. Prolonged Agony issue here. So if you're one of those girls who are tired of tweezing your eyebrows to painful perfection, I highly recommend threading. And the best part is, threading doesn't leave your skin raw and irritated. Besides eyebrow shaping, threading is also performed on upper lips, chins, and hairlines (at varying prices, of course). Oasis Beauty and SPA offers eyebrow threading services...RM9..but it is too far from my place loh...no transport. But if you want the full address, here it is: No.2A, Lorong Ara Kiri 3, Lucky Garden, Bangsar 59100, Kuala Lumpur. Tel: 03-2093 4200 Hope this helps...
  9. Does anyone know where to buy hair removal cream in Malaysia? I used to buy it in Brunei, but dunno whether it's sold here. So far, it has been the only way I tried to get rid of my armpit hair and leg and arm hair. Not sure if everyone has heard of hair removal cream, but basically it's just a cream which you spread all over your arms, legs, armpits, etc.. Then after waiting for about 10 minutes, you remove the cream (products like Nair provide a spatula to help you remove the cream easily) and all your hair comes off with the cream..then take a shower to wash off... I've done this several times already...like before my prom... Errmm..I know it's messy loh, you have to apply cream everywhere...until sometimes even get cream on the bathroom floor.. But it's effective... I haven't tried any other hair removal methods before, not even shaving...but i think with shaving you get a little stubble sometimes or even cuts...and waxing sounds sooo painful! So I prefer hair removal creams...it's easier to remove armpit hair too.. So anyways....where to find ah?
  10. Oooh...I just thought of another alternative... I could insert padding in the front, I suppose... Does the padding have to be sewn on? But it can be taken off later right? Hmm.... silicon bra or padding? Ha, I'm so indecisive...
  11. Oooh...so Peek-a-Boo is better than A Cut Above? Only in terms of colouring, or styling too? I suppose I prefer to go to Peek-A-Boo because it's much nearer my house... If I do go to Peek-A-Boo, which stylist should I ask for? The famous Shawn? Or are the others just as good? And what are your opinions on Snips and Kimarie?
  12. Hey dear...ooh you have a prom coming up too? I'll try to see how I can help.. Well, the second one seems pretty unique.. I like the 'chiffon and satin for fluffy look' part...sounds so pretty and sweet! And I don't think too many people will be wearing coral at the prom... So maybe choose this dress if you want something different and sweet. And the first one is a good example of the true-and-tested little black dress. Very classic. Very elegant. And very sexy. It's colour and design may not be as unique as the second one, but hey...you could never go wrong with the little black dress! In other words, a safe and classic choice. All in all, I suppose I'll go with the first one. But maybe that's because I already have a good idea of how the black dress will turn out. As for the second one, it's more unpredictable because it's harder to picture in my mind...but it sounds good anyway and if done properly, could possibly turn out very nice! Hmm...since you mentioned it's the same dress as your friend's, maybe you could post up a picture of your friend's dress? That would be helpful. Oh, and you're good at designing dresses.. Maybe should have asked you to design my prom dress... Oh, and post pictures when you have it done..very curious to see!
  13. ohh...i found another salon, Kimarie Salon which is also near my house... It has been mentioned a few times by forummers here also... Is it good? And I keep hearing that Peek-a-Boo is very good for colouring...what about styling? Wah, so many salons...I'm also so confused now.
  14. THANKS for the advice!!! I won't wear it for the whole day then... Maybe I'll just put it on after I'm done with the hair and everything.... Since the prom itself will last for almost six hours. Thanks for the info, Wen... I'll check out the silicon bras first tho... I don't want one which is too expensive, since I'm not sure how often I'll need to use it. So the cheaper ones will be sold in Watson and Sasa, right? I'll probably check these places out then...
  15. Which ones are expensive? Peek-a-Boo and Snips, you mean? How much does it cost there? But if the hair stylists there are really really good, maybe I won't mind that much... So do you think the 'quality' is worth the higher prices?
