  1. hi mixybabe depending on what sort of holiday you are looking for. For quiet and more culture, Ubud is best. For nightlife and shopping, Kuta is better. BTW, I have travel vouchers for accomodation and Bali is one of the destinations. It's basically RM499 (only) per room for 5d/4n accomodation, so that's about RM100 per day! Email me at im.nekochan@gmail.com for my info ... Cat
  2. Try Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser - great for sensitive skin. Leaves a bit of a moisturizing film after washing which helps hydrate the skin. Not expensive, about Rm35 from any pharmacy. I've also been using the Moisturizing Cream - that's relaly cheap in the US (I buy it by the jar!) but in KL you can only get in a tube format - not quite sure about the price though. IF you don't sleep in an air cond room, you don't need much moisturizer but if you do, then you need to use moisturizer when you sleep. And, keep your skincare regime simple - no need all the mask mask all, no need facials - just keep it clean. The more pressing and prodding will make things worse. Also remember, the most organic and natural of products, once it's bottled and distributed, it would be a few months before it gets to you - if it's so natural, the product will deteoriate so they still need to put in chemicals and other stuff to keep the product stable. It's like putting sugar and salt in all the canned food. So, don't believe everything you read - marketers / copywriters like us get paid to write and make these stuff up and let me tell you, the words Organic, All Natural, Pristine, 100% whatever, etc are words we use all the time to help the manufacturers SELLL their products and help you waste your $$$. Do you know that the cost of a product - you are mainly paying for packaging, container and advertising and the cost of the actual product i.e. the cream / liquid / etc is actually very low...
  3. As a person with extremely sensitive skin, I've tried heaps of brands in search for the 'right' one. If you read through Paula Begoun's website Cosmetic Cop, here you can read her reviews about the various types of skincare products. Check the brand you want to buy here before going to the shop! Sometimes, organic doesn't necessarily mean good - as a marketer, we use words like that to make people feel that its' pure and natural. Many products use different scents which entice us but as a student of aromatherapy, do you know that you can't put real essential oils into a product and expect the properties to remain stable for more than 15 minutes? So when you purchase a product which was probably manufactured months ago and you can still smell the lovely lavender - there's no way it's real lavender essential oil. As the previous post mentioned, more normally means more chemicals too so it's actually not good for the skin. I had a colleague who had really sensitive skin. She didn't even use makeup or skincare as it would break out. Her dermatologist told her just to wash with water. That's it - just pure and simple solution - water. After that, she has no problems. One of the best skincare I have been introduced to by my dermatologist overseas is Cetaphil. You can get it at the pharmacy. No frills, simple packaging - almost too cheap for some at RM35 a bottle. As I've gotten older, and, like any other vain pot wanting to maintain my youth, I've tried serums, anti aging creams, etc, etc - even La Mer! - but the only difference is my increased credit card bills and dwindling bank account. These days, I've gone back to basics - using a combination of Cetaphil and Eumora and Clinique's Moisture Surge Face Spray. It's a good and simple combination and not so heavy on the pocket.
  4. I would recommend using Cetaphil as a cleanser as it leaves a light moisturizing film over the skin. The thing with acne prone skin is that we tend to try to get rid of the oiliness by using products that make it dry. When the skin is too dry, it signals the brain to produce more oil so the body produces more oil which leads to an oversupply of oil which may cause more pimples / acne. Especially for the face, we also tend to pinch and prod it and put lots of makeup to cover the scars / pimples and all these will also clog up the poors. But being human (and female!) we are impatient. The skin take about 28 days to rejuvenate which technically means that if you ignore your pimples for that cycle, it should go away but that's like a lifetime when you have to see yourself in the mirror everyday! The formula I'm working with now is: Morning - wash with Cetaphil cleanser (about RM35 for a huge bottle) Afternoon - wash with Eumora cleanser (sometimes) (RM95) Evening before going to bed - wash with Eumora cleanser to remove makeup and followed by Cetaphil. Sometimes on the pimples, I will use the Body Shop Tea Tree oil stick and dab some tea tree on the pimple. I've stopped using all the heavy night creams or any creams as I find that they clog my pores. So, I'm using Cliniques Moisture Surge Hydrating Spray (RM100) I've also stopped going for facials and stuff as I find that after a facial my skin will get so red and splotchy. So, by simplifying my skincare regime, I think my face has benefited a lot and so has my pocket!

    Clearasil

Clearasil and many other products will dry your skin out. Many of the acne products tend to have alcohol in it. Body Shop has their tea tree range but that's also very drying. Trouble is, if your skin is too dry, it will tell your brain to make more oil and this extra "oil" will cause more pimples! I've been using this moor-based cleanser and now my pimples are minimal and not many new ones. They said no need to use moisturizer after but I still use a bit and Cetaphil Moisturizer is highly recommended - non-oily and non sticky.
  6. Been using Eumora moor-based cleanser for a few months. Fairer, no dry skin.

    Eczema

Depends on whether dry or wet eczema. For dry eczema, I've been using Cetaphil cleanser to wash and also the Moisturizer to great success. Helps when I also remember to take my Evening Primrose Oil. For wet eczema, I've been using the Eumora soap to great success. Helps in drying it out and clearing the skin. Email me if you want to buy it, can get discounted price .. email im(dot)nekochan(at)gmail(dot)com Nekochan
  8. Get more sleep? I find that if I sleep earlier de bags don't look so bad Or try this http://moorcleanser.blogspot.com Many have used to good results; reduced eyebags, less wrinkles .... Miaw Nekochan
  9. I switched to Cetaphil a few years ago as I have very sensitive skin and it was good for my skin. But if you wear a lot of makeup like foundation and all, then the Cetaphil won't remove all the makeup. Use a makeup remover first. A few months ago, I switched to a moor based cleanser called Eumora and it's been very good for my skin too. And now I don't need to buy scrub or toner anymore. So, save quite a lot of $$ i.e. instead of 3-4 products, now only 1 product. Nekochan
  10. List down the brands of facial care products that you babes used Facial wash: Eumora (now) / Cetaphil (previously) Facial Scrub: Eumora Toner: No need to use after using Eumora, previously Sekkisei Lotion Scrub: No need to use after using Eumora, previously Body Shop Aloe scrub for sensitive skin Moisterizer: Clinique Moisture Surge (only little bit) Mask: Eumora Eye gel: Clinique Moisture Surge for eyes Acne/blackheads remover : Hardly any after using Eumora Becasue it's cheaper to buy in bulk, I bought a whole lots of Eumora cleanser bar - if any of you interested in buying at cheaper price, email me at im.nekochan@gmail.com
  11. Hi, I'm a newcomer to the forum but this is an interesting topic for me. I've spent SO much on dermatologist on my skin in the past few years, already pokai. Now economic condition not so good, must cut back some more. Anyway, my dermatologist used to give me pills and creams and it made my face SO sensitive I finally decided; enough is enough - I want to stop poisoning my body and my face. Imagine all the chemicals inside those products and in my body. So, I went on the quest for natural cures. First, start with diet So, eat more veges and fruits (raw) and drink more water Then, after reading a lot, I decided to try the humble CETAPHIL cleanser. Many dematologist in US recommend it as it's hte most gentle product for sensitive skin. Most products try to dry out your skin but by doing that, your body just tells your system to produce more oil to the skin. Cetaphil is good - it leaves a slight film on the skin, making it feel not dry. No scent (scents are added using chemicals), no coloring, etc It's also not expensive. I also use it for my body. Recently, I started using the moor-based cleanser called Eumora. I must say that I'm quite impressed with the results. My face is now normal - no more T-zone. I hardly get pimples (I used to when time of the month lah - but the last 2 months!) and the spots (keratosis pilaris condition) on my arms also almost clear. My friend recommended to me and I only tried it because it's natural product. So, maybe instead of trying all the treatments that cost so much, jsut try Cetaphil or Eumora for a few months; give your skin a break from all the harsh treatments; and if they don't work out, then go back and try the treatments again ... Good toner?

I was also using the Kos Sekkisei lotion but recently I started using this moor-based cleanser and no need to use scrub / toner or moisturizer anymore and my skin is all normal again (used to be T-zone). And in these economic times, cheaper too!
