I came across this term while reading some makeup reviews.
Apparently, it's makeup that is good for your skin clapping.gif
Can anybody explain what it is and whether we have it here? unsure.gif

Here's some info I found:
The words "mineral powder makeup" sounds really pristine and does live up to its name. It has no talc, no chemicals, no fillers and no dyes. Just What more can anyone want? Mineral powders are gentle on the skin especially after cosmetic treatments. As they are made from finely crushed, high pigment minerals, the risk of allergy is minimized and there is no clogging of pores. More importantly, as the basic substances used are titanium dioxide and zinc oxide as the base, they afford natural protection from UV radiation.

Mineral powder make up can used by anybody with any type of skin. The zinc oxide, which is present in the mineral powder, is anti inflammatory, so if you have rosacea, or are plagued with skin blemishes, this is ideal. As there is no talc in these mineral powders, it helps to retain the moisture and retains hydration. It does seem to be loaded with advantages and a little makeup goes a long way.

As it has a sun protection factor of over 20, it is especially useful in the hot and humid climate. Best of all, it is fairly water resistant and has a water resistant factor of 90 minutes in water. Made from micro ionized pigments, they allow the skin to breathe and the make up does not run. Mineral powder cosmetics are healthy and healing. A big advantage of mineral powder makeup is that you can change the appearance merely by changing the application technique. While regular brushes give a light tint, sponge or cosmetic brushes can make the application appear denser. Use a damp sponge and the make up appears even darker. Some mineral makeup powders have foundation, concealer and a powder rolled into one. Good for all skin types, they afford natural coverage, and add a translucent glow to the face. They help to produce a flawless matte finish and you feel as if you are not wearing any make up at all. Best of all, the make up can be removed very easily.

Cosmetic technology has undergone a minor revolution with mineral powders performing working wonders in every climate even catering to high humidity levels. Even if you sweat, your make up is not going to run. Matte powder is versatile and blends so easily that it can be used to produce a vibrant effect, which looks good and feels good. Aestheticians are actually relieved that they can recommend something that is healthy and wonderful to people who seek their advice.

Yupyup~~ Mineral Make Up is good for your skin~ It's has Titanium Dixiode that act as natural sun barrier~ You can find this chemical in all sunblocks~!! It has other benefits too but I can't be bothered to remember tongue.gif

But the only Mineral Makeup brand I know is MAC's MSF foundation and the MSF blushers. And both of those products are no longer available at the moment coz it's Limited Edition~

Ya, i have tried this i.d Bare Escentuals mineral powder foundation before... the texture very fine with load of color so don't have to use alot!... I used on a slightly dampened face (I used some Dermalogica spray on toner) to get the effect of liquid foundation because I didn't invest in a Kabuki brush. Followed by Mineral Veils.. Too bad we can't get this in Malaysia... Loads of nice cosmetics not available here.

OOh sorry.. wrong spelling Thread. .. Actually I am addicted to mineral makeup, I try-out various brands to find out which suits me better. To me I think mineral makeup is much more versatile, can customer your own color, add to moisturizer to make tinted, add to sun block for a tinted sun-block.. or can also mix finishing powder to your normal loose powder... more more... this are a few methods that I have personally try run.

Yeah, I approached Wildberry (thanks, girl!) about running a group order from Lumiere, which had good reviews in a couple of forums that I post in and I was interested in ordering from their line of brushes, which had very good reviews too.

I haven't started using mineral makeup yet and I'm already addicted to it tongue.gif Too bad it's so expensive to ship these things down to Malaysia.

yea, mineral make up is sooo much better than conventional make up. I've been using it for 1 year now and my skin's been getting better and better. The foundation contains generous amounts of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide and they are soothing for those with (sun) sensitive skin, roscacea or acne prone.

These are the touted advantages to MMU :
(1) Most products contain only 3-6 ingredients so there's less chance on skin irritation
(2) Most products contain generous amounts of titanium dioxide, providing protection from the sun
(3) They consists of inorganic ingredients, so the shelf life is practically forever! This is usually for MMU in powder form like foundation, primers, eyeshaodows, blushers and not inclusive of lip gloss/ lipstick.
(4) MMU is really pigmented ( no chemical fillers ) so u use only a little bit at one time.

However, a note of caution. some MMU companies do use talc and bismuth oxychloride which could irritate skin ( itching ). Not every MMU company provides good products ( a lot of them are coarsely milled and u'd end up like wearing crushed rocks on ur face ).

MMU foundations could sometimes magnify the pores, and that's one disadvantage i could think of. If u want to use powder foundation, u need to moisturize heavily...else u could end up with cracked skin. Yea, MMU takes a lot of trial and error to get the hang of it, but once u do, it's well worth it! smile.gif

Yeah I was gunna say something about the bismuth oxychloride too. I think Bare Ecsentuals contain them.

Some users are also sensitive to mica as well, so be sure to read the ingredients before you get the minerals smile.gif

I agree with Marlene. There are brands that stay on longer and some don't. Some people maybe suitable for a brand but others may not. Its really a matter of trying out. Once you do, you'll be addicted...

Hi everyone! Sze is my friend and she referred me here. I love mineral makeup and don't think I'll ever go back to regular cosmetics again. I've been using it for over half a year now. So far I've tried Everyday Minerals and Mineral Essences products and e/s from TaylorMadeMinerals and Aromaleigh. And I'm waiting on more samples tongue.gif No bad experiences so far and my skin has improved a lot compared to the days when I was using regular makeup.

And yes, always check the ingredients list on the website because not all companies use the same ingredients. Some may add botanicals which may/may not affect your skin. Others may have mica or kaolin which is a mild irritant for some people. So it's just about making an informed choice for your own self.

Anyway, I'm sure I'll pop back here often to see what new developments there are in this thread ^^

Hey friend! Good, you're here! clapping.gif (Zhi Hui is my big MMU influencer wink3.gif )

mintmentos: Yup, BE is very pricey! It's been around for about 10 years, and has a large customer base who claim it's their Holy Grail cosmetic. I heard about it, but am worried about the bismuth because I have very sensitive, acne prone skin sad.gif
